Wilmington Mural Features Local Century Farm Family

Wilmington Mural Features Local Century Farm Family

Wilmington mural in progress.

A May 2015 photo captures the downtown Wilmington mural in progress. The painted portraits include (starting with second person on the left) Gene DeVoe, Carl DeVoe, and Edith Bone.

Ohio Century Farm owner Gene DeVoe, his brother Carl, and Aunt Edith Bone are among a group of local farmers featured in a downtown Wilmington mural. His family’s likenesses are from a photo taken when Gene was 10 years old; today, he is 92 years young.

In 2015, Gene’s daughter, Janice McKeever, registered her father’s farm as a surprise for him. Her deed research showed Grassy Run Farm dating back in their family to 1899.

Main Street Wilmington will officially unveil the completed mural this fall.
