Everyone likes a touch of home for the holidays, especially if home is halfway around the world. For the last 18 years, the Ohio Christmas Tree Association has sponsored Operation Evergreen, which works to ensure military troops stationed overseas get that touch of home. As part of Operation Evergreen troops receive trees donated by Christmas tree growers from throughout Ohio. This year over 100 trees are being shipped to troops in Kuwait. The trees are first inspected for overseas shipping by ODA nursery inspectors to ensure they are free from any pests and disease. The following are some photos of Operation Evergreen in action at ODA on November 13th.

Over 100 trees were donated this year by Christmas tree growers throughout Ohio, and were inspected by ODA nursery inspectors before shipping.

After inspection, the trees go into the bundler for easy shipping.

After bundling and some trimming, the trees are packaged in donated boxes.

The boxes are also packaged with ornaments and decorations donated by school children, churches and veterans groups from throughout Ohio.

Once the tree and decorations are ready the volunteers make sure the boxes are taped and ready for shipping.

Next stop: Kuwait
