Muskingum County Celebrates Its Historic Farms

A celebration took place Saturday, Oct. 3 on the Tunis Bicentennial Farm, when the county’s century and bicentennial farm families met.

Ohio Department of Agriculture Deputy Director Janelle Mead presented Ohio Bicentennial Farm certificates to four families, including:

Burwell - Copy

Joe Burwell family (farm established 1812);


Rambo - Copy

Betty & Wilbur Rambo (farm established 1800);


McGee - Copy

Tom & Catherine McGee (farm established 1806); and


Tunis - Copy

the Tunis family (farm established 1815).


The county’s newest Ohio Century Farm family was presented with a certificate. Susan McDonald (below, right) registered the farm as a surprise for her mother, Dorothy Montgomery.
